Clayface

Just Juicin’ Around is full of plenty of thoughts dedicated to this new DC Universe Film… Let’s get into it.

“I’ll be whoever you want me to be.”

Yet another beautiful example of NOT needing Batman in a Batman Villian Movie.

This was never going to be a Big Blockbuster, or “The Best Horror Film of the Year” which is what a lot of people and trades are making this out to be. I was expecting a sort of “Live-Action take on my favorite Batman Animated Series Episode” biasness included. This very much met that expectation, even more so than I had considered.
Tom Rhys Harries absolutely kills it in this role, Naomi Ackie, Eddie Marsan and the guy I’m more impressed with seeing get more work, Max Minghella. Everyone in this absolutely shows up firing on all cylinders and as the film plays, you get the horror tones, but you also get the tones of Dread, Remorse, Hopefullness, Empathy, Envy, and Vengence and Rage. This is a Movie where the main character is literally changing his appearance through his emotions and when he finally embraces that, we get a beautiful combination of emotions while watching some gruesome body shots and images.
If you’re a Horror fan, you’ll definitely love this, but this IS NOT HORROR, honestly it is more gross than it is scary but I would argue that this is far from gross, it’s sad in a beautful art style way.
I am so ready for where James Gunn and the folks at DC Studios want to take the DC Universe.
