Full Spoiler Review!!!!
Let’s get into it
Having seen this fantastically beautiful film 3 times now, I am officially ready to talk about it in depth.
Starting off with that beautiful soundtrack and those awesome needle drops, the sound in this film made me emotionally invested from literal beginning to end.
The story is extremely easy to follow, and we finally have a first Superman Movie in a Franchise that isn’t an Origin Story. Instead we get a quick and wonderful worded intro sequence immediately followed by non-stop on screen action.
Sure, there are definitely moments of that are more dialog heavy than action, but that is all part of a general and generic Superman Story through and through and Gunn understands this.
The cast is a Home Run completely. Rachel Brosnahan is an OUTSTANDING Lois Lane (most definitely my Lois Lane, Bitsie Tulloch), Nicholas Hoult is an Incredible Lex Luthor. Representing a younger and more emotionally driven Luthor, Hoult really knew how to hone in on Lex’s motivations towards hating The Blue Boy Scout. He’s literally throwing tempertantrums and acting like he deserves to be treated like “The Gift to Mankind”, He literally makes a rift in the fabric of reality to the point of almost erasing everything just because of his envious rage towards Superman and GUESS WHAT GUYS,
🗣”That’s exactly how I wanted to him to be treated as a Character!! If you read any Superman Comic with Lex Luthor as the central Villian, you’ll know that that is EXACTLY HOW HE ACTS!!!”
I finally have a Lex Luthor that I can genuinely Love to Hate, so very VERY good job to Hoult and everyone else who had something to do with his Character.
And David Corenswet himself has DEFINITELY fit into the shoes most gloriously as Superman. He 100% understands the Character of Superman. Gunn, the writing team, and the Actors, every single person involved with every single one of these Characters, definitely understood the material they were given
(I mean James Gunn literally has a CURRENT COMIC BOOK WRITER in his ears right now, so yeah everyone knows what they are doing ESPECIALLY JAMES GUNN).
Every single supporting character, from the Daily Planet, to Ma and Pa Kent, to The Justice Gang, was absolutely brilliant, but the BEST was Krypto, he is the MVP next to Mr. Terrific.
The cameos were spot on for anyone who caught ’em. Bradley Cooper as Jor El, Michael Rooker as one of the Robots, Michael Rosenbaum as one of the Luthor Raptors, and too many more for me to add here.
Basically, this movie knocks it out of the park as an introduction to a brand new universe with James Gunn at the Helm. I truly do not think there is any argument anyone can make to get me to not like/love this Movie or to not trust James Gunn at all.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
P.S.
If you don’t like the Movie, that is completely ok, I’d love to hear why you don’t like it. Just know that your reasons for not liking it, will not change my viewpoints as to why I LOVE it.
